Frederic Limon

Frederic LimonFrederic started learning piano at age eight, prompted by the exact spelling of his first name with the famed pianist Frederic Chopin. At age 12 he started learning the tenor saxophone, and for high school was accepted into an arts school to go through their music program. It was during this time that Frederic also learned to play the clarinet and the guitar.

Motivated to learn singing, Frederic quickly started joining each and every singing group he could in the school, including the jazz group Magnetics. It was the reputation of this vocal group that landed him an audition with the Toronto All-Star Big Band. After being accepted into the band as a bass vocalist, their schedule led him to perform in places like the St. Lawrence Centre, the Canon Theatre, Casa Loma, Harbourfront Centre, the Beaches Jazz Festival, and countless other venues. He participated in recordings and performed with the likes of Jackie Richardson, Peter Appleyard and Eddie Daniels.

Since then Frederic has recorded a CD of original music, with himself on piano and a talented partner on vocals, produced by Charles Diraimondo, a well-established musician here in Canada.

On a side note, Frederic also played his Saxophone in his high school’s jazz band, Blues Alley, under the direction of Darrel Eaton, who brought fame to the band when it first started for having won a competition and earned the title of the best high school jazz band in North America. They made a recording the last year Frederic was there.
Frederic has been teaching privately for over 4 years, and is now excited to bring his love, enthusiasm, and real-world experience for music into Jeff’s Salem’s professional quality of teachers!
